Gold

Gold, A rare material whose wealth is valued around the world. Something countless numbers of people search for but only a few find. No matter what state the economy is in, anywhere in the world, to the highly populated cities or out in the dark continent of Africa, gold is said to hold its value. What makes such a metal so precious that people would die for it? Is it really worth what nations have proclaimed? If the world was thrown into apocalyptic event would it still be more valued than food? Weapons and ammo? Shelter? What decides its value? If given the choice between a bar of gold or a pistol and one clip of ammo what would you choose? In realty of an apocalyptic event, that bar of gold won't feed you, its not going to save you from rabid dogs, it will not keep you warm at night. Gold is only as valuable as the situation of the world. If you had a farm in a world scarce with food, would you give it all up for a vault of gold? I for one would not.
